average university charges over $300.00 per credit hour. Thus, the
opportunity for high school students to earn these college credit hours
is a huge benefit to them and to their families to help reduce the cost
of post-secondary college education. Most of these courses are
absolutely free to Scottsburg High School Students. There are some
courses that cost $25.00 per credit hour or $75.00 per semester. This

have worked very hard over the last 5-10 years to bring more and more
college credit opportunities to our students. We have a desire to
provide a jump start on their future,” stated SCSD2 Superintendent Dr.
"We are thrilled to have 152
students taking at least one college credit course. Twenty-three of the
twenty-five courses are taught by SHS faculty members. We are always
seeking new courses and partners to help prepare our students for
college and to enable parents to save on the cost of higher education.
It is thrilling to see our kids meet the academic challenge and succeed
in the classroom,” added Scottsburg High School Principal Ric Manns.
Satterly, a 2014 SHS graduate, had enough credits to enroll as a
sophomore at Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY. Caleb’s story is
proof of the value of an SHS education. The following is an excerpt from
an email received from Gary Satterly, Caleb’s father. “Just wanted to
say moving back to Scottsburg and putting our son, Caleb, in school here
was the best move we’ve ever made for his education. I believe by far
we have the best schools in the state of Indiana. SCSD2 just saved us
$25,000. Thanks for giving my son the best education he could receive.
You are doing an amazing job!”
School and Scott County School District 2 also received the following
great news from recent graduates Madeline, Mollie, and Kelsie Collins’
mother Kim. “We have just received an email from Liberty University
regarding their evaluation and transfer of the college credit courses
Madeline and Mollie took while at SHS. I am so thrilled to share that
ALL 30 of their credits transferred (26- Vincennes, 4-Ivy Tech)!! These
combined 60 hours (plus the hours that transferred for Kelsie last year)
will have a huge financial impact on our family. We just wanted to
thank you and the teachers for providing these quality opportunities for
students. We realize it takes additional time and effort, and we are
very grateful to everyone involved! We will miss Scott 2 schools.”
