About Our Program

SCSD2 offers high-quality Pre-Kindergarten programming at all four of our elementary schools. Our full-day program runs from 7:45 am – 3:00 pm and is designed to give your child the foundational skills, confidence, and joy of learning they need to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. Every classroom is licensed and certified at Paths to Quality Level 3 — Indiana's voluntary child care quality rating system.

A typical day includes small/large group instruction, free play (⅓ of the day), gross motor activities, rest time, and social-emotional learning.

Programs are offered at Scottsburg Elementary, Johnson Elementary, Lexington Elementary, and Vienna-Finley Elementary.

On My Way Pre-K Funding

Families are expected to apply for On My Way Pre-K and/or CCDF. Tuition is only charged to families who do not qualify.

How to Enroll

Check Eligibility

Your child must turn 4 years old by August 1 of the school year. Children ages 3–5 with disabilities may also qualify through Special Education preschool services. Early enrollment waivers for children turning 5 between Aug 2–Oct 1 should contact Tiffany Copple at (812) 752-8946 ext. 1070.

Apply for On My Way Pre-K

All families must apply for On My Way Pre-K and/or CCDF before enrollment. These programs provide tuition support for qualifying families. Preschool seats are limited, so apply early.

Attend Your School's Enrollment Event

Attend the enrollment event at your school of residence. April 7 @ Johnson & Lexington · April 8 @ Vienna-Finley & Scottsburg Elem · 4–7 PM Can't attend? Contact your principal before April 30.

What to Bring

Your child and a legal parent/guardian, birth certificate, immunization records, proof of residence (utility/phone bill, bank statement, or rental/mortgage paperwork), and court custody documentation if applicable.

Tuition note: Because Pre-K is not funded by state and local government, tuition is $150/week for families who do not qualify for On My Way Pre-K or CCDF assistance. All families are expected to apply for both programs first. Families who choose not to apply will be placed on a waitlist for August enrollment.
